July 3, 2023 – On June 22, we celebrated the legacy of our Namaqua Center, which focused on providing care for children who have experienced significant trauma along with their families. After nearly a half century of healing hearts, the decision was recently made to transition our Namaqua Center name and logo to our primary name, SummitStone Health Partners.
Please be assured, the same vital services we’ve provided for so many children and families under the Namaqua Center name will continue to be offered within SummitStone’s High Intensity Youth Treatment and Peer Services programs. As always, we will continue to serve our communities by fostering trust, empowering recovery, and inspiring hope. This opportunity allows us to bring together more streamlined wrap-around services for our Namaqua Center clients. The programs include:
- The Grandfamily Support Program is for families whose children are in the care of grandparents or other kin. This program helps these ‘second time around’ parents to fulfill their new roles and connects them with others in the same position, building a community of support.
- The SPOT is a safe place for adolescents with high risk behavioral and mental health needs to gather after school, where they feel accepted and valued, and can help each other focus on developing their personal strengths to overcome challenges.
- Wondercamp is held during extended school holidays and during the summer, so kids can keep building social skills alongside their peers.
- Respite allows caregivers to step away from managing the needs of their child and allows them time to care for themselves while the children participate in fun, age-appropriate activities with their peers.
Our children, youth and family programming will continue to grow, expand, and evolve along with SummitStone’s other High Intensity Youth Treatment services like Intensive In-Home Treatment and Additional Care Giver Support.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank members of the Namaqua Advisory Board for their years of dedicated service in providing leadership and guidance for operations and programming, as well as advocacy for Namaqua Center and our families. They include Doug Mannering, Sue Taigman, Kathy Boeding and Nancy Pickard.
I would also like to express appreciation for the women of the Foothills Service League, who, for many years, have supported the Namaqua Center through special events such as Taste of Loveland, Foothills Tree for All and their Holiday Wreath Sale. Many of our children and youth services would not be possible without your generosity, so please know how much we value and honor your support.
Keep in mind that our motto is still: “Whatever It Takes,” knowing we’ll do whatever we can to help these families heal and begin to thrive. We still hold in our hearts the guiding principle and a Core Value at SummitStone – “Care Starts With Yes.”
