Please help us welcome our newest Board members
At SummitStone Health Partners, our purpose is to help people transform their lives through recovery, renewal and respect. Our mission is to provide unsurpassed behavioral health prevention, intervention and treatment services.
As a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization, we are fortunate to be guided by a volunteer Board of Directors who are passionate about our mission. This past year has been challenging and difficult on so many levels, and our Board has been my rock. Without their guidance — backed by their vast experience and expertise — I’m not sure how we could have weathered through this pandemic. Our Board has fiduciary responsibility, helps us to manage risk, ensures against compliance issues, advocates for our work in the community, and most recently, has helped guide our efforts towards increased equity, diversity and inclusion. And they do this by donating their time as volunteers. I couldn’t be more appreciative of each and every one of them.
SummitStone continues to grow in leaps and bounds to serve our community in so many ways – from helping those experiencing homelessness, to those who are struggling with addiction, children who need extra help to thrive, people who find themselves involved with the legal system, and anyone who may be in crisis or experiencing a mental health issue – SummitStone Health Partners is here to help. That’s what we do. And our Board of Directors serve as beacons to light the way.
Knowing that, I am so pleased to introduce you to two of our newest Board members, Rich Cohan and Carol Rieser.
Carol dedicated her nursing studies with an emphasis on education, chronic illness, and transcultural learning. Starting in direct patient care, she moved into administrative positions where she focused on strategic planning and improving efficiency in healthcare spending. Rich has dedicated his career in healthcare on compliance, ethics, client rights and fiscal responsibility — with a bit of marketing, information systems and sales strategy in the mix.
From Carol: Retirement has provided me with the gift of time and I would like to offer my knowledge and expertise acquired during my professional career to SummitStone. I am honored to serve on the governing Board of SummitStone.
From Rich: I have spent the last 22 years of my multi-industry career in a variety of healthcare organizations – from community mental health to very large health systems. I hope to bring my passion for establishing and executing strategies that lead to superior healthcare outcomes to the SummitStone Board. On a more Board-operations level, I hope to use my finance, internal audit and compliance experience to add value.
Carol and Rich join an amazing team of community members who have stepped up to help SummitStone serve our clients with compassion. We appreciate your service. Please join me in welcoming Carol and Rich to the SummitStone Board of Directors!
