Since 1959, the Foothills Service League has dedicated themselves to countless hours of fundraising to improve the quality of life for people in Larimer County — specifically for individuals with cognitive disabilities and children who have been abused or neglected. Over the years, they have raised well over $1 million for both Foothills Gateway, Inc. and SummitStone Health Partner’s Namaqua Center.
On May 30th, 2019, the Foothills Service League presented the Namaqua Center with a $32,000 check representing a portion of the proceeds from the Foothills Service’s League’s two fundraisers during 2018-2019: The Foothills Tree For All in December and the Foothills Taste of Loveland held in April.
“We have a passion for helping organizations that help our most vulnerable individuals,” said Chris Dildine, President of the Foothills Service League. “The Namaqua Center does a great service for our most vulnerable children and their parents, grandparents and caregivers.”
Support from the Foothills Service League includes funding an account so that children and Grandfamilies can use the Chilson Center in Loveland for no charge, providing emergency financial support, equine therapy, an after-school program for at-risk youth and Wondercamp, which offers children new opportunities during the summer months, and gives their parents some respite time.
While the events the Foothills Service League hosts are geared toward fun, they are focusing more recent efforts on educating attendees about the work being done by the organizations that are supported by the fundraising. Foothills Gateway serves 2,600 individuals and their families annually, while the Namaqua Center reaches nearly 300.
“We are so grateful to this handful of women who have been so dedicated to supporting our work year after year,” said Namaqua Director Karen McMahon. “The funding is integral to the work we do. They bring light to the need for our services in our community while providing community members with a way to make a difference.”
